"I am a popcorn woman!"
Not yet eight, you defy the skies to defy you.
Your freedom intoxicates
and I struggle in this Delphic moment
to sift mystic meaning, to bare this truth,
but your words permit no parsing.
And, like all oracles, you offer
no assistance, only repetition
as you smile, innocent and goddess-like:
"I am a popcorn woman."
"I am a popcorn woman!"
Not yet eight, you defy the skies to defy you.
Your freedom intoxicates
and I struggle in this Delphic moment
to sift mystic meaning, to bare this truth,
but your words permit no parsing.
And, like all oracles, you offer
no assistance, only repetition
as you smile, innocent and goddess-like:
"I am a popcorn woman."
